Description: The music for Quickstep is energetic and lively and is complemented with dance patterns that include hopping, skipping and running. Due to the very quick pace and athleticism of the dance, it is usually reserved for more advanced dancers, who are skilled enough to keep up with the music and manuever around the floor without running into other couples. As the dance has evolved over the last century, more complex use of the timing has come about, by using more syncopations, adding to the difficulty level. The music itself is hallmarked with strong percussion and brass instrumentation with it's origins in American jazz from the Big Band Era. Dancers interpret the light, bouncy sound with leg and foot movements that are equally springy. |
