Description:

Even though Jive is one of the dances in the Latin dance category, jive music is typified by the high energy all-American rock and roll sound born in the '40's and developed in the 50's.  The East Coast swing music in the American Rhythm category shares some of the same markers, like it's use of instrumentation and accent beats, but is considerably slower than the jive in tempo. Hearing the upbeat tempo of jive music, with it's distintive use of horns, drums and strong accents on even numbered counts, make anyone want to jump up and start dancing.
